My paintings reveal my keen interest in the natural world. Influenced by annual family camping trips on the West Coast, I observed the intricacies of tiny insects and other species such as fish, deer, or squirrels. These creatures are fascinating because each has their own lifestyle and patterns yet coexist beautifully; they need each other to survive. My education in Ecology deepened my knowledge of crucial species, like bees and ants, that have a huge impact on their ecosystem. The flowers and berries they pollinate are food sources for many species. When animals eat the berries and flowers, they distribute seeds for more plants to grow for bees or ants to pollinate. This is just one example of a perfect symbiosis.

Before starting a painting, I extensively research crucial species along with their natural habitat. I delve into the intricate beauty of nature by capturing the delicate balance and vibrant details of crucial species. Through careful observation and expressive techniques, I aim to raise awareness and appreciation for these vital organisms and their environmental significance.

The natural world is often forgotten in the modern technological age. I create so others can see nature through my lens. I want my audience to expand their knowledge about the significance of the natural world and learn to appreciate their own value within nature’s balance. My work conveys that humans can also live in a symbiotic relationship with nature, and that all creatures, big or small, are to be admired, respected and protected. By bringing the microenvironment to human size, I bring these significant creatures into a kinder and gentler light.
